Sophie Germain est une mathématicienne du 19ème siècle, une pionnière qui s'est frayée un chemin dans le monde scientifique grâce à sa détermination et son culot. À treize ans, pour échapper à la tourmente révolutionnaire, Sophie Germain se réfugie dans les maths qu'elle apprend en cachette. En 1797, elle se fait passer pour Le Blanc, un étudiant, afin d'obtenir les cours de Polytechnique. Elle utilise le même pseudo pour correspondre avec les plus grands mathématiciens de son temps et en 1816 devient la première femme récompensée par l'Académie des sciences.
Une success story ? Pas vraiment. Malgré son audace et son talent, Sophie Germain, la femme cachée des maths, retombera vite dans l'oubli. Il est temps pour elle d'entrer dans la lumière.
